Additional Information Minimal footwear provides the opportunity to benefit from near-barefoot running while still providing the underfoot protection and cushioning from impact that shoes provide. This women’s-specific Free 3.0, in it’s third iteration, has been updated to provide an even more comfortable yet freeing fit, allowing the runner to experience all the benefits of barefoot running without the risks. In the Nike Free continuum, the lower the number in a shoe’s name, the closer it comes to barefoot running (with 10 represents conventional footwear while zero represents no shoe or being bare foot). The Free 3.0 is Nike’s most minimal shoe, the closest they offer to a true barefoot experience. The outsole of the Free 3.0 V3 features deeper and wider sipes across the midfoot to provide greater torsional flex and enhance stability through the footstrike. Wider sipes across the forefoot allow for increased muscle activation and more barefoot-like experience. Pods of solid rubber under the big toe provide better traction and durability and strategically placed BRS 1000 carbon rubber enhances overall durability of the outsole.
